Thomas Mann’s desk • AD Germany

Mann bought the desk in an antique furniture shop in Munich where he was living at that time.The desk followed him wherever he was living. He lived in Munich until 1933 when the nazi regime assumed power, he flew to Küstnacht near Zürich and lived there until the war break out from 1933-1938. Afterwards they settled to Los Angeles/Pacific Palisades on the north-western edge of L.A. from 1938 until 1952. The last three years of his live they moved back again to Switzerland where they lived until his death in 1955.
