Cruzar la Cara de la Luna
An electrifying season opens as Arizona Opera brings the world’s first mariachi opera to the stage. Cruzar la Cara de la Luna has become a smash sensation around the globe, blending the passion and artistry of mariachi with the emotionally touching story of a Mexican immigrant family.  Commissioned in celebration of the anniversaries of Mexican Independence and Revolution, Cruzar la Cara de la Lunafeatures the legendary Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan and promises to be an unforgettable night of raw energy, drama and virtuosity.
The Daughter of the Regiment
This bright, sparkling comedy follows Marie, a feisty young girl raised by a regiment of French soldiers high in the Alps.  Peppered with exhilarating arias, astonishing high notes and outrageous fun, Marie rappels between her patriotic loyalty to her “dear brothers” and the expectations of “polite” society.  Coloratura soprano Susannah Biller stars as the title role for Donizetti’s whimsical and hilarious romp.
Eugene Onegin
From Pushkin’s classic poem comes Tchaikovsky’s theatrical magnum opus.Onegin is a man egotistical enough to turn his back on love and a gun on his best friend.  Set in St. Petersburg and the snowy Russian countryside, this new production features David Adam Moore in the title role, whose gritty interpretation promises to be riveting.
The Magic Flute
Full of charming, magical melodies and fantastic creatures, Mozart’s beloved tale follows Prince Tamino and bird-catcher Papageno on an adventure to rescue Princess Pamina. As they face unexpected trials and challenges on their journey, audiences will delightas the genius and imagination of the composer unfolds before their eyes. Mozart’s final masterpiece is a light-hearted but profound look at man’s search for love and his struggle to attain wisdom.
Rigoletto
A court jester isn’t quite so funny when he has revenge on his mind.  With unforgettable arias that are synonymous with Italian Opera and a dramatic, twisting plot Rigoletto features dark assassins, a philandering Duke and the self-sacrificing Gilda. This lush production set in 16th century Mantua features baritone Michael Corvino as Rigoletto, who “brings a robust voice and disarming vulnerability to the role.” – The New York Times.
